Simply Drop is a program that has been launched by the Royal Mail, in order to help you recycle your gadgets. Simply Drop believe that all unwanted mobile phones or gadgets should never turn up in landfills, as they are very damaging for the environment. They want to promote electronics being recycled in a responsible way, where they can be recycled or refurbished.

Simply Drop’s partners include Barnardos, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Cancer Research UK. If you decide that you want your gadget going to charity, then the money you would have received will be sent directly to a charity.

Simply Drop is a great way of recycling your unwanted gadgets, as they accept working and non working gadgets. There are a few exceptions that they are unable to offer payment for. These are:
-    Gadgets whose makes and models are not listed on their website
-    Mobile phones which are not UK or Europe registered
-    Gadgets that are damaged far beyond standard wear and tear e.g. a smashed screen, or the gadget is incomplete e.g. missing a battery
-    Gadgets that are either blocked or registered as either lost or stolen
-    Gadgets that are a ‘prohibited’ model or make
-    Laser printer cartridges
-    Cordless phones

Unlike most mobile phone recycling companies, Simply Drop also accept other gadgets. This includes:
-    Mobile Phones
-    Digital Cameras
-    MP3 Players
-    Battery Chargers
-    Inkjet Cartridges

To recycle your gadget with Simply Drop is really easy. All you have to do is firstly find your gadget on their website. Use the search box to type in your gadget. When it appears select it, and state what condition it is in, as well as how you would like to be paid. When you have completed this, you will need to enter in your contact details.

Then send them your gadget using Freepost; however you may want to use recorded delivery for higher value gadgets, which is what Simply Drop would recommend. Simply Drop will send you a Sales Pack which will have a Freepost bag inside, as well as posting instructions. Make sure you do get a proof of postage when you send anything to them.

Once they have tested your gadget against their Terms and Conditions, they will send you your payment in the form you requested.
