When recycling your mobile phone, you are required to enter in the model number of your phone. For some people it is difficult to remember which mobile model they have.

Here is our guide to finding out the model of your mobile phone.

The first thing to do, and probably the most obvious, is to check your handset to see if the model number is printed on it, most likely on the front of the handset. Although in some cases you will be able to find the model number on the back of your mobile.

In some cases, where you have purchased your mobile direct from the network, then the model number may have been replaced with their own network logo. But there are still other places on your mobile that you can search to find out the model.

If you still cannot find the model number on the handset, the next best step is to look for the box or the instruction manual. From this you will easily be able to find the model number printed on the box and the manual.

However if you have lost or thrown away the box and the manual, hope is not lost yet. With Nokia phones you can use a short code, which will enable to view information about your mobile. Simply type in *#0000# into your handset, and the information should be found on the display. In some cases, this may not work, so try *#9999#.

Blackberry users can check which model they have by selecting ‘Options’ in the main menu, and then selecting ‘About’. The model number should appear on the display.
If you have an Android operating system, you can also check you mobile model number. Simply go into your settings, select ‘About Phone’ and then select ‘Phone Identity’, and the model number should appear on the screen.

For most other mobile users, you can go into your settings, and look for the information in there, in some cases it may be a case of searching each option to find the model number.

You can also look inside your mobile for the model code. Remove the back cover of your mobile, as well as the battery. Once you have done this you will see an IMEI label. This is basically a white sticker with barcodes printed on it, as well as the model number of your phone.

Another way to find your model number is by looking for your mobiles Bluetooth name, if your mobile has Bluetooth that is. In order for you to use Bluetooth, your mobile has to be given a name, and usually by default, this is set to your model number. However if you have already changed your Bluetooth name manually, then you will no longer be able to see the model number.

To find your Bluetooth name, go into the Bluetooth settings, and look for your ‘Bluetooth Name’, or your ‘Phone Name’. Once you have found it, you will be able to see your model number.

If after all this, you are still no closer to finding out the model number of your mobile phone, I suggest you take your mobile to your local phone shop, and ask them to identify the model for you.
