If you are looking to recycle one of your gadgets, you will need to know the make and model. The make of your gadget is easy to determine, however in some cases the model number isn’t so obvious. Just like mobile phones, your other gadgets too have model numbers. In this section we will look at how to find the model numbers of your camera and iPod.
Find the model number on the camera itself
To find the model number of your camera is fairly straightforward.
In most cases the model number is located at the top, side or front of your camera.
However in some cases you will find that only the make of the camera is displayed, so you will need to look elsewhere to find the model number.
Check the camera box for the model number
The next best place to look to find the model number of your camera, is the box it came in. The model number will be clearly labelled on the front of the box.
If for some reason you no longer have the box, you will also be able to identify the model number from the instruction manual for that camera. The model number should be location on the front page of the manual.
Having done all this, you still cannot find the model number of your camera, you could take it down to your local camera shop and ask them to help identify the camera model for you.
Locate the serial number at the back of your iPod
With newer versions of the iPods being released, many people look to recycle their old ones. To do this you will need to know which model you have. There are a number of ways to find this out.
You could check the back of the iPod and the serial number should be clearly written, you can then go to the Apple site and type in the serial number. Once you have done this, the model number should be displayed on the screen.
If however the back of your iPod is badly scratched, you could always check the box or the manual that came with the iPod.
The model number should be clearly written on the front of the manual, and also on the front of the box.
Use iTunes to find the serial number
Another way to check your iPod model number, is to plug it into iTunes.You will find the serial number when you select ‘devices’. Take this serial number, and enter it into the Apple site, and the model number should appear on the screen.
If you still fail to locate the model number, you can always pop into your local Apple Store, where they will be happy to tell you which model your iPod is.
